Has anyone gone through the process of registering a UK bought boat trailer, over 750kg, after 'importing' it to Spain and if so would they share how they managed it as I've been told by trailer manufacturers here that it is simply not possible (but they would say that wouldn't they !) I suspect there won't be many answers but I live in hope as I have to borrow a UK plated car whenever I want to move the boat by road. Happy tacking and many going abouts!

I don't know about Spain, but I once made the mistake of towing a British caravan into France behind a French registered car.

La Douane decided it was an undeclared importation and I had a fine time /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Its a nightmare but you can get the trailer plated in Spain. Before its inspected, it's essential to have an authenticated certificate of EU compliance from the manufacturer with the Company Stamp on it and signed by God.Even then there will be a list of modifications which you will have to make to comply with Spanish regulations. One tip was to take it to a trailer manufacturer in Spain and get them to fix it up.
For the record, Italy is even worse.
