Any advance on twelve errors?

'This boat is a MOONRAKER, what more can I say. Colin chapman designed, great seakeeping, great layout with ample headroom and all them little touchs that were ahead for its day. Apart from the age this is in a very nice condition and full credit to the owner for keeping her this way.She has a full history of the owners and has been regular lifted out for antifouling. The hull is in a fantastic condition with no signs of dullness, ( apoxy resin) a good polish & wax will give this many more years of happy boating. Ok internaly there are signs of its age but no signs of any damage, just personal touchs required here and there. A new flybridge cover has been fitted and another nice touch is all the windows have external covers for protection. I noticed that it was equipped with three wipers that all had heated dimisters a bonus on the front screens. To help matters a folding radar arch is fitted. There was no noticable smell of damp or mosture, which means a well cared for ventilated boat. Once the winter grim has been removed it would be difuiculit to say that it was built during the eighty's .A VERY NICE EXAMPLE OF THE RENOWNED MOONRAKER AT A REALISTIC PRICE These boat details are subject to contract. Note: Offers on the asking price may be considered.'

Are you allowed to be a broker aged 8 or 9! My son is 10 and has a better grasp of grammar, spelling and syntax than this guy clearly has?

Someone is intending on giving this chap money for doing this, you'd think the very least he could do would be to write in proper English.

It is a disgrace and the company that this person (who claims to be a broker) works for should be ashamed. The author clearly knows nothing about the vessel in question, and has a poor grasp of the basics required when putting together a brokerage listing. Oh dear....

Ah there lies the reason why, Rigger Mortice has tracked down the advert, the reason why the basic grammar is so bad is that the author comes from Norfolk. Where is that anyway, anybody famous come from Norfolk. Hmmm :)

I would say the guy deserves a bonus. His idiosyncratic approach to grammar and spelling has brought the advert to the attention of a much wider audience than usual. Anyway, why be hide bound by rools? ;)

I think he writes as he speaks, almost like a stream of consciousness.

Interestingly, before I got to the link to the ad further down, I knew it was a boastshed boat.

Plus grime, and eighties. Adding some punctuation would also make more sense of it.

But I've probably missed some others too. How long does one study it to get the grandma and speeling right when the message is waiting to be said?

And I can almost see him now. Sitting alone in a portacabin willing his mobile phone to ring.

Erm...I counted 33. But then, I am a bit of a pedant.

OK, a lot of a pedant.

Boy, am I going to give Keith some stick next time I see him! Actually, he is good at his job, and is one broker I would really trust: he puts in a lot of hours (around the boatyards, not just the office) and his descriptions are pretty accurate (grammar aside!). He just needs a secretary, that's all....

Or, failing that, a f***ing great big Post-it with "SPELLCHECK" written on it!!!

I give up. There are more (grammar etc), but it is a waste of time and effort. :)

That's all people need to know really. He is trust worthy. and to be honest, that comes across in the description.

Spelling and grammar mean nothing compared to a trustworthy and honest opinion of the boat for sale.

Yes, I once drove from Anglesey to Hamble to view a Nauticat with a similar trustworthy and honest opinion.

The boat was disgusting; it looked like several families of Travellers had been living aboard on the hard.

The Broker was nowhere to be seen.

Anyway, it is not about spelling and grammar, it is about attention to detail.

Is it too much to ask for an intermediary in the sale/purchase to be able to demonstrate this?

Would you be happy receiving a letter from your solicitor with the same standard of spelling, grammar, syntax and punctuation mistakes?

Brokers are always telling us how 'professional' they are; I don't think this supports their case.
