These two men worked for Andrews in the early seventies - anyone know their names or whereabouts? (and, yes, that's Trotwood's Launch in the background)

Looks a bit like Cyril Smith and Jimmy Saville!?:p

I joke of course....:o

Both a bit before my time sheila, but it's great to have a launch piccy of your boat, I doubt I'll ever get to see that on any of ours!! :(

I work with a chap who was a first year apprentice during the build of your boat. The chap on the left is Ken Morris and on the right is Chris middleton both boat builders who worked on your boat . He is not sure of there whereabouts now though. Hope this helps.

That's really great - thanks so much!:D:D

Neil Garside has a lot of records re Andrews and would would be a good starting point to find ex employees. There were at least a couple at Freebodys when I went there in the early 80's.

Thank you so much. I'm afraid I don't know who Neil Garside is? How can I contact him?
:D Many thanks again . .

Neil Garside was working as an independent boat builder out of val wyats of wargrave up until recently . Not to sure now though . The chap I work with has many memories of helping build your boat . Also the Guy who installed your engines was Peter Naylor snr or Victor Naylor depending on how you knew him .

Thanks for that - we'll contact Val Wyatts. We might have met Neil. If your friend wants to re-visit Trotwood we'd be delighted to meet him? We do know that the boats original engines were deemed to be not powerful enough and larger ones were then put in - nearly ending up in a court case we heard . .

Simon Hostler worked on her as an apprentice and remembers all names mentioned above, he also adds she was one of five. Simon still works with wooden boats as an independent boat builder and is currently working on SL Eclipse amongst others.

He will happily talk with you about her build if you wish, he is definitely an oracle about Thames boats and people.

Inbox me and I wil forward number.
