seen in Swanage on Saturday

One of the old fairmiles, most of which are lieing at Galmpton up the dart, mostly wrecks now. She's probaly one of the last still working/cruising, one in Port Olympic as well.

One of two used for the Torquay - Brixham passenger ferry service for as many years as I can remember.

Both have been up for sale, around the £30,000 mark if I remember, as sudgested they were in Galmpton after retireing from duty back in 2005.

Been on her many times & were quite sad to see them go.

Hope the other has found a good home.

Memories! A trip on the Western Lady to Brixham used to be the highlight of our annual holidays to Torquay in my early teens (30 odd years ago!). That and the "Shooting Star" speedboat in Babacombe /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Pretty sure she's an HDML (Harbour Defense Motor Launch) but deffo a Fairmile, as others have said.

Given where you keep your boat, you may be interested to know that there used to be a couple of HDMLs that were used to run trips between Poole and Bournemouth. One of them was called Matapan - I remember seeing them go past Sandbanks beach.

This was back in the 60s; so quite a while ago, now.....
