Hi

One of the Genoa sheet cars on my Beneteau 311 has disintegrated. It is made by AMIOT. I have found that they are based in St Malo, but cannot find a web site or UK distributor. Can anyone help?

Hi,

I think Amiot is a Beneteau subsidiary or at least a dedicated supplier. I am sure Beneteau Spares at Ancasta in Hamble can order them, if they don't have them in stock.

Good luck.

Amiot is owned by Plastimo, but they do not list them in their catalogue as they sell Barton deck gear. From the US site in the link from Cliff their track design is different from standard (Barton, Rutgerson, Lewmar etc.) and sizes are odd, so I guess you need the right cars etc.

A Beneteau dealer is probably the best bet.

Beware - The Barton track is thinner than the one on Beneteau so the plastic inserts on the Barton cars have to be pared down by 1mm (0.5mm each side) leaving hardly anything left - and it's a b**** to do!. I went down that route and managed to do it with a Dremel, but it took ages.

Thanks for your input everyone.

The Rig-Rite site was not a great help as they seem to only sell tracks and not cars. But they do point out that there is an incompatibility between US and European tracks and cars, so I need to take care.

Prior to my original post, I had already tried Ancasta, they don't have them in stock but they can get them on special order, but at £136 for a single car!!!!!!!! This compares to approximately £40 for a 25mm Barton car.

I will buy a 25 mm Barton car and see if it fits; but before modifying it as AHJI did, I will wait to see if I can get any info directly from Amiot in St Malo.

Thanks again for all your help.

Sorry, I had missed that Rig-Rite sell Amiot Cars.

However, today I bought a Barton car to see what was required to modify it to fit my Amiot track. When I got to the boat I soon realised that this was a non starter as I do not have a T shaped track. Mine has a rectangular cross section with a concave groove running down each side. The car has plastic convex strips that run in the grooves.

Rig-Rite seem only to sell Amiot T Track and not the style that I have.

So, now its either get a new one from Amiot, (but am still waiting to hear from them), have a part made to replace the broken part on the original car or pay Ancatsa £136. mmmmmmmmmmm

That sounds like the I beam tracks on the page that opens from Cliff's link.

Click the link below the 19mm track to go to the page for that and all the cars etc for it

Click the link below the 32 mm one to open the page for that and the 32mm cars etc

There does not seem to be a 25mm I beam track though. Is it perhaps the 24.6mm recirculating ball track which they mention but do not illustrate?

Rig Rite do invite you to contact them after measuring the width of the track!

Vic,

Thank you for your continued interest in my problem.

The profile of the 19mm and 32M Traveller tracks is different from my Geneo track. Especially the height; these are 25 mm and 32 mm high respectively, whereas my track is approximately 10mm high.

I did send Rig-Rite a fax as few days ago, but I haven't had a reply. I will give them a call as they don't have an email address.

Regards

Colin
