Just found out that I need a new power steering ram. Its for a Mercruiser 5.7 and alpha (I think) outdrive? The equiv. Vovlo part is £700.

Any one know roughly what I should expect for the MerCruiser part?

Or have it refurbished\overhauled. They're not wildly high tech bits of kit and I would have thought any halfway decent agricultural engineer or hydraulic engineer could overhaul it fairly inexpensively. Just don't tell them it's for a boat. A quick search on yell.com showed four in the MK area. Worth a call and bound to be cheaper than new?

Barry, I have name of local ram making firm who can make any ram/rod seals etc, mail me through pm if you wish.

Mercury Bearings & Seals in Ewell overhauled mine for £63. Works as good as new and they gaurentee the work for 1 year no questions asked, cant be bad

Look in January issue of boats and yachts right at the back, I think there is a new one for £275.
Good Luck capsco
