anyone know of any boats coming back from the med ??julyish

you means ships (which can carry boats) as opposed to boats which by defuinition can't.

Good stories abound regarding Peters and May - and my recommendation is that you DO NOT use Sevenstar who will take your money, agree any date you want and then cancel the ship if things are quiet with the next ship due a month or so later. The same ship-cancelling can *potentially( happen with Peters - except that they'll give you yr money bac if they fail the date window...

I think if you read the post properly he is looking at a boat being transported by 'road' and would like to be the 'return journey' on one coming up from the med to get his down there /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think if you read the post properly he is taking his boat to the Med and looking for any boats coming back to the UK so he (quote 'i') could go back as a return load (crew?). No mention on of a boat being transported by road at all. Then again, no mention of returning as crew either, or as deck cargo (boat) or by aircraft (person).

On the assumption that you just want to get your boat to the Med in the most economical way, have you thought about taking your boat to, say, Cherbourg, and getting it lifted onto a French truck there?

I've done this and it saves quite a bit. It was quick and efficient. I put the boat the truck in the evening, hired a small car and met it at St. Cyprien a day and a half later. Also had pleasant stop overs in La Rochelle and Andorra on the way.

Sorry to confuse you, but I was using plain common sense which I think you will find is right /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I wonder, if I'm right does that make me a genious, or are those that can't see just plain daft? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sami,
Like John says, its best to take the transport from France, the increase in price from the UK is very big (think 35%) so having fun taking your boat to Cherbourg can be economical as wel! here some French transporters (i used them lately for a transport i need to do...) in order of price (from the cheapest to mos exp.)

Just ask price and you'l see if it makes it worth it

btw ask price to more than one, i had more than 50% price difference between the the cheapest and the most expencive... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Best to ask the question to the transport companies. I used Rabalia (or something like that??) for transporting my 37ft boat to the Med and said I was flexible and would fit in with a return load which is what happened. It cost about £3000 Hamble to La Napoule S.France

Don't know if this helps, but we're bringing our 44' Motor cruiser home to the Hamble by road sometime before June 30th. Just waiting for a convenient backload for a craft going to Spain. Quoted £4300.
