Anyone Know more about Peters Opal?

Looks as if parts of their website are not functioning properly....

"Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0006' "

A symptom of other things not working, or people not being tasked to fix it ? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

How can a company plan for the future when it loses 2 major franchises within such a short period of time.
The costs of branding and stocking must be in the millions just for one marque, never mind two

Visited six brokers this weekend on the south coast and the latest was that company credit cards had been withdrawn, company cars sold and a new director in place apparently appointed by the companies bank.... Could be worse..... and of course this is word down the grape vine!

Well then that is officially Administration! However Administration is not Terminal...and with support it can be turned round. Apparently they have over 230 staff so not a cheap business to run. Fingers crossed the administrators tighten the belts and keep the business running. Good luck to all the employees, fingers crossed.

I am sure a viable business is still in there with a bit of a 'slimfast' hour.

Cheers

If true it's very sad. I've always had excellent service from Peters and don't like the idea of trusting my boat servicing to anyone else.

I hope they manage to turn things around. I good outcome for those of us in Chi would be if Premier bought it as a going concern.....

Also heard via the grapevine that Birdham Pool had been sold.

All very sad, if true. My feelings go out to all the guys aswell.

Sure I read somewhere, maybe on here, that the chandlery at Chi was up for sale/sold? May have been a while ago....

Just heard a bit more, only rumour that there into 29 million quid and over 30 new boats in stock so there are bound to be some bargains at the show next month.

Yes, I believe that is true. It is all of them though, not just Chichester. I really do feel for Mike, John, & Eddie & co in the Chi branch, as they're always more than helpful. I think John's wife also still works/worked for Peters in the shipyard.

I assume they are also pulling Bav, Island Packet, Rodman Fishers and Azimut out of SIBS then? Gonna leave a bit of a hole in the event.

Or maybe some more marginal brands might get more of a looking in instead...
