I've left my almanac and charts on board and wonder if anyone can tell me:-

Going into Bucklers Hard (entrance to Beaulieu River) at around 11am Saturday and need to know what the state of tide is as I seem to remember you have to be careful at variuos times when entering the river from the solent.

I know we are around neaps but any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Simon

Re: Er

At work but....

Bucklers is not at the entrance, it's a fair way up

AFAIK it's 24 hr never had aprob with our 45, just follow the chart, the blue bits are OK or am I missing something here?

Std port is Portsmouth 11th Jan 0458 4.0, 1033 2.0, 1708 3.7, 2251 1.9
Bucklers Hard is -0040 -0010 +0010 -0010 -1.0 -0.8 -0.2 -0.3
So yes it's neaps and near LW.

Jim
------

HW Portsmouth 04.58 @ 4.0m & 17.08 @ 3.7m
LW Portsmouth 10.33 @ 2.0m & 22.51 @ 1.9m

Corrections for Bucklers Hard :- HW is minus 15 mins approx & minus 0.8m
LW is minus 10 mins approx & minus 0.2m

Corrections for Stansore Point :- HW is minus 20 mins approx & minus 0.5m
LW is minus 10 mins approx & minus 0.2m

Should have about 2m of water at 11am but don't blame me if you go aground !!

Have a nice trip.

Re: Er

I seemed to remember something about the entrance is to be avoided at low water but is that only springs or am I thinking of somewhere else.

I agree

Shouldn't be any problem if you follow the channel in. I've heard a story of a plonker getting stuck trying to cross the N. end of Gull Island, at HWS, when it is awash, but I think it's an urban myth. Certainly shouldn't be misleading at/about LWN. The withies marking the channel upriver can sometimes be a bit difficult to pick out but the course of the channel is fairly obvious.

Thanks to all

Will let you know how we get on - hopefully it'll be an empty solent!, the odd warship here and there but otherwise quiet
