Appologies for a wanted thread here but it's for a good cause.

Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue (GAFIRS) is an independent lifeboat sited at Stokes Bay on the Solent. They're one of the busiest boats in the country & are completely self funded & independent.

They're looking for a liferaft they can use for training, probably just in a pool. So, if anyone has something they would not use any more, please PM me. It just ahs to inflate when needed & stay up long enough for a pool session.

Hmm, I might be able to help. We have an old out-of-date 6-man off Ariam when we bought her; I offered it for sale here with little interest. My dad's now decided to give it to the kids next door to play with (supervising the inflation and then removing the flares etc before letting them jump in) but he might be persuaded that GAFIRS is a more deserving cause.

I was interested in seeing it inflate in next door's garden as I've never seen one go off before. Do you reckon I could stay and watch if I bring it round to the first training session?

Pete

I have a 4 man in valaise they could have only problem is its up in Sheffield and they are down south so carriage might be expensive but they are welcome to it

May be worth asking commercial shipping lines - Maersk ? - and the Royal Navy; I remember at ' Navy Days ' we kids used to play in old liferafts ( on shore ).

Commercial/naval rafts are likely to be rather bigger than the ones used by yachties.

I have a 4 man canister liferaft that they are welcome to have. It came with the boat I purchased recently so I cannot give any history other than it is well out of service but externally seems to have been stored ok. Location Lymington.

PM me if interested.

I have an old valise one here in Portugal.

I am taking the Santander - Portsmouth ferry arriving on Sunday 8 Dec. I am then driving on to Norfolk.

If you want it, send a pm with address where I can drop it off.
