When dropped into water the yellow float is released on the end of a coiled line.Probably has a lifejacket pellet release of some sort. Looks like a good idea for the folding bikes too.

I saw in reviewed a couple of years ago, looked pretty good but never manged to find one!!

I bought one some time ago. When I accidently dropped it on the floor the float popped out, together with the spool of thread and what appeared to be a very dried up piece of foam. I think that when the foam gets wet it expands and pushes the float out.
I managed to rewind it and put it back together and it looks OK. But beware of dropping them onto a hard surface.

Most chandlers will stock them, easy to find here in Ireland. Just make sure that you throw it away after it's been in the water. That little piece of foam is an intregal part of the mechanism and just drying it out and recoiling it will lead to a dissapointing end /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I've got one but I have no idea if it will actually work! Hope I never find out I guess. Certainly fits into your pocket better than a large round cork ball, which also looks a bit odd in your pocket too!
