Need to do some end-to-end splicing of 10mm double braid and resent the cost of the equipment for two small jobs.

when I did it before I used meat skewers and sheer determination (bloody-mindedness) and huge dose of Pinipersistence, but then it didn't really matter if I messed it up. This time its for my continuous furling line so it's a lot of rope to ruin if I don't do it right.

I thank you.

got some hollow fids in my ropework box which is on Brigantia (likkle) we're on board this weekend if you can't find any closer to Ipswich

I was put off by the cost of a set of splicing needles, so just bought one from Rooster Sailing which didn't seem much on its own. Thought it might come in handy.

Then I bought another and so on. As a result I can maybe confess to the odd bit of gratuitous splicing from time to time.

Why not buy a set? After all they're not the sort of thing that you'll never have use for again, because you WILL have to replace that furling line again, and you can then splice braid on braid whenever you want... I bought a set for exactly the same job and have had my money's worth within 3-4 years
