Having been seduced by her lines, if not her finish, I now own a late 60's T31. My future contains much fettling but by restraining any urge towards fine yacht finishes I plan to re-launch next spring.

Does anyone else out there have one, or information about them? I'm particularly curious about the trim tab mechanism since all the is left is a stub in the bilge. The rudder stock is also a bit of a mystery to me at the moment as she's got wheel steering and the top of the stock doesn't move when the wheel is turned! The steering functioned perfectly during the delivery trip though.

Thankfully the deck is plain old sheathed plywood rather than the attractive-but-doomed teak over ply. Some work wil need to be done but in-depth poking shows it isn't too bad. The engine is great and quite recent, and at 21hp pulls like a train.

So, anyone else out there?

A very knowledgeable friend of mine has owned several T24's and a T31.

He speaks very highly of them indeed.

He doesn't post on here (not a message board type of person).

If you'd like to pm me your email address or phone number, I'll give him a ring and ask him if he'd mind contacting you.

Hi Rum Run,

all I can offer is that a good chum had a T24 in Welsh waters a long time ago, sailed her hard and rated her very highly indeed; as he did the Anderson 22 he went to great lengths to get hold of later on, so we know he has taste !

Everything I have heard about the T boats has been positive.

I learnt to sail yachts on a T24, crossed the channel numerous time and make as far west as Falmouth.

Good solid sea boat little slow in light airs but dug in and sailed well in a blow. Very found menories.

Just thought I would bump this back up before asking over in Classics, or even in Racing if there is anyone old enough to remember them in IOR

There is a T31 based in the yard where I overwinter. I'll be there again soon, so if you PM me your details I can ask the office to pass them on to the owner.

Hi Iain, the Admin people obviously thought you were advertising so canned your post!

I found your advert very recently during a google session as it happens, and saved the details with a view to contacting you.
I would be very interested in seeing photos of Flo and her renovation as there is very little info available about the T31 on the Web.
I'm particularly interested in the under-cockpit area at the moment - steering gear, rudder post etc, and if you retained the keel trim-tab any info on that too as Isabelle (that's my T31) has nothing remaining of the tab adjustment gear, and I am not even sure how the tab is held to the keel casting. I have sent you a PM with my details

In your position I would advertise on ApolloDuck as their coverage and photo hosting is good. Flo sounds like a real bargain.
Cheers

I've got a T31 on the Clyde..She's a cruising version with a longer cabin and no tab on the keel

Hello Colt,
There seems to be a few on the Clyde, including Phendra (sp?) which was subject to a blog for a little while but which has now gone quiet. What is the name of your boat? Also another took part in Cork Week last year, so there are still some about, but very little information.
Isabelle also has the longer cabin (11 portlights to keep sealed), and the trim tab is fixed immovably which is why I have been asking if anyone knows about how they were attached and steered.
If people are interested I would be happy to put together an owners group website to gather all the available information in one place, but at the moment there is a lack of actual information to go on it!

Way back in the70 I met the author of make your own windvanes he had a T24 and roamed the world
Can you remember his name? My Googling isn't finding a book of that title. But they certainly had a reputation as great boats.

So far I have met several people who had a T24 and lusted after a T31 in the 70's, in the same way that some people with AWB34 's now lust after AWB56's. Some kind of relativity going on there

I had a T24 for several years. A great sailing boat although a little wet (we didn't have a spray hood). Sailed her cross channel several times, often with young children aboard, and once did Cherbourg to Needles in under 8 hours. So, a really quick, well-designed boat but, and its a big one, the deck/coachroof was ply, attached to a GRP hull, so maintenance was a real problem. I spent much time chasing leaks/ filling rotten bits/repainting and I eventually sold the boat and bought one completely made of GRP. (I assume that the 31 has the same ply/GRP mix as the 24. ) However, if you are happy to undertake the maintenance I'm sure that you will not be disappointed with a T31.
