Anyone going to watch the Cowes fireworks by boat?

We have the makings of a plan!

Thinking of watching the Arrows, then popping ashore for something to eat, then back out for the fireworks - not sure from where as yet - virgin firework goer me !

Will be on mob, or VHF "Shackleton"

See you there, somewhere!

We cant decide yet! weather has looked rubbish all week and although its nice enough now, it seems to change every hour at the moment!

Dog sitter broke her leg yesterday so will have to leave dave the dog to listen to them on his own which is never good!

maybe just head to Hamble point to see the red arrows and retreat to the pub! shame cos have been looking forward to it for ages! we missed last years!

Excellent,

Looks like we will now make the red arrows too, so will be planning to head out from Hamble point at about 6.30 so will give you a call later today.

We will be listening VHF 16/73 as 'Whiteshark'

Being a local and seen the display on numerous occasions, which by the way is very good, the down side is, the race back to base after the show, all the boats tramming through the dark at break neck speed like the M3 on a Friday bank holiday weekend, how nobody has been hurt is amazing, enjoy, and stay safe.

Me? I'll be watching from a safe Stanswood bay viewpoint ashore.

Wasn't someone hurt a few years ago? I seem to remember hearing something about a RIB hitting a buoy at speed causing some serious injuries.

Anyway, if we can get down to Port Solent in good time we may pop out to watch.

Yes, quite right, a rib hit an unlit bouy at speed and the injuries were awfull, IIRC the driver was prosecuted.

You do not have to wait very long for the madness to calm down.

I generally do one of two things, stay north of the fleet, engines running and depart and the last firework pops to get ahead of the fleet. Or anchor of Cowes beach and wait an hour or so.

Not going tonight as it happens, we're off away for the weekend.
