We are going for the weekend, arriving Friday and leaving Monday. We have been for the last 2 years camping but this is our first year by boat. It's a great weekend and I can pretend I am a teenager again! I booked the mooring before we even had the boat.

We seem to have various people staying over the weekend including some in the cockpit, not sure how that happened . As long as I get my bunk they can do what they like, maybe I should start charging per bed :D

Is anyone else going?

If anyone is in the area next weekend and sees a dishevelled looking Akvavit with some delicate looking people probably Saturday and Sunday morning please say hi.

Hmmmm.....I was planning to go out Saturday and see how far one of my friends and I can get in one day; stay over somewhere then come back Sunday. Methinks it may be better to modify that with a night-stop in Henley.......

However, I've a couple of questions:-
1. Tickets seem to be sold out: can you listen from the boat instead or is that just noise?

2. Any suggestions on moorings?

Sounds like a splendid idea

You can listen from the boat but you only to get to hear it. I know on previous years there have been boats anchored off Temple Island listening. Tickets are sold out however if you are on Facebook there is a Rewind page with a number of people offering tickets as they now can't go or you could put a post looking for some. Otherwise there are some on Fleabay.

We have really enjoyed it the last 2 years the average age is 30/40/50 odd so it's not full of kids just misbehaving adults!

Regarding moorings the "official" moorings sold out months ago, I would offer that you could come and raft next to us but my mooring form says "The Environment Agency does not allow boats to be moored two abreast. We cannot accept bookings from boats wishing to moor two abreadt and we reserve the right to enforce this rule on site as necessary".

I am sure there will be moorings available nearer the bridge or on the otherside of the river. Hobbs run the official river taxi from Henley to the festival but last year there were lots of small boats around running people back and forwards which could be useful if you have to moor on the otherside, unless you have a tender?? In which case you could certainly tie you tender to us for safe keeping.

Thats very helpful.....thanks Sulley. To be honest I'm more than happy to listen in from wherever we can find moorings and don't really need to see the bands. It's going to be a 'lads weekend' so I imagine a pleasant mooring, bbq, 'couple' of bottles of Malbec and some live music will be splendid. I'm at Reading Festival for 3 days the following weekend (in the Geriatric section) so this will be excellent training!

Reading, wow hardcore hanging with the kids ;) just hope they don't set fire to anything. I've done Glastonbury a few times and Bestival, Beautiful Days. Rewind is a walk in the park in comparison, I'm sure you will enjoy just listening to the music and having a boys weekend.

We are having a girls weekend apart from one guy and his wife lets him come out and play, she trusts him with us

Well......I've wanted to do Reading for years but never got round to it. I've a bunch of mates who have been going for many years and as one of my sons is also now 'hooked' I decided that I have to go .....before I'm too grumpy to put up with it. Wish I had gone last year as the line-up was spectacular.

Note: Martin & I are always trusted by the other halves. They work on the basis that a couple of middle-aged gits who end-up talking work and drinking too much wine won't be of interest to anyone with half a brain :D

Nice looking line up for Reading this year, I'm sure you will have a great time. I didn't do my first festival Glastonbury until I was in my early 30s and the other half thought I had gone crazy but we had a blast.

I'll keep a look out for you two next weekend...

Rewind

Just seen your posts on this. We are going having booked our tickets some months ago. We have booked a mooring on Fawley Meadows through Steve of SRB Moorings, the guy who collects the mooring fees. We only did this a couple of weeks ago so it may be worth contacting him to see if he still has space. His details are on his website.

It is the wrong side of the river, but it is an easy and quite pleasant walk into Henley and on to the festival site. I quite like the idea of being away from the main traffic, it should be a bit more peaceful over night.

We have never been to the festival before, but everyone we speak to say it is a great event.

our plan is to head for fawley meadows on the friday, if there is a space to moor up, great. If not, we will just head on to wargrave and moor up there for a quiet one. If we do get a spot on fawley, we will probably stay for the weekend and maybe just take a walk further up that side of the river so opposite the rewind festival and sit and listen to the music from there (as recommended to us by someone who did the same thing last year).

You can hear very well from outside, music goes on to approx 10:30pm ending with fireworks.

Anyone who is moored on the otherside of the river and is using a tender to cross and needs to have somewhere to tie it up is welcome to tie it to our boat for safe keeping. We are on the official moorings outside the festival.

went up past the rewind festival area yesterday, had to wait for 10 mins they were filming Bert and Dickie – the story of rowers Bert Bushnell and Dickie Burnell.
could of sworn i saw doctor who

Maybe the best plan looking at the latest weather forecast!

Passed you this morning and did wave.

You need to get a forum burgee.

Did I wave back? :o If not I'm very sorry but it may have not been me it could have been one of my stowaways!

It will be good to meet people at the forum meet so I know who I am looking out for!

Where can I get a forum burgee?
