anyone from worcester uk i need help

hi im new to this i have a searay 21ft bowrider
i have started to strip it out to recarpet it but found the floor are rotten i need some help in what to do and where to start
hope someone can help me
if someone in worcester is out there it would be nice to meet up

Hi Ian,
Im not too far from Worcester but I wouldn't know where to start with floor replacement.
Best thing would be to remove it completely I would assume & remake it with a good quality marine ply.
Then sheath it in glass mat & resin, shouldnt be too difficult.
Being based in Worcester you should be able to get help or guidance locally, sealine are based in Kiderminster as you know, so there should be a few folks out their with boatbuilding experience.

Failing that quite a few books have been writen on fibreglass repairs & boatbuilding techniques so try & source a few & see how they go about rebuilding the floor of a boat.

Don't panic!

First, rot implies water ingress - where is it coming in? Deal with that problem first.

Second, floor panels are invariably fitted AFTER all other cabin furniture is installed so it's not usually a major problem. Rip it all out, get the boat dry. Keep the old boards as a pattern.Check the floors (the joists to you m'dear) and cut out any rot to those and treat with a rot proofer like Rentokil. Splice treated timber alongside to level up any floors that are no longer level 'cos you've hacked out rot on the top line. Of course, if the floors only go as far as the bunks/galley fitments just fit new treated timbers. By the way, use brass screws or stainless steel screws or you'll get "nail fever" which is the interaction between steel screws and damp timber causing rot around the fixings.

Get some good quality exterior plywood, Malayan/Far Eastern is more than adequate, cut new boards from the old pattern, treat with a clear rot-proofer, varnish several coats both sides if you want to go the whole hog, refit and put down the carpet. I'd tend to either NOT fix the boards so you can lift to inspect the bilges or use minimum fixings. Carpet can be stuck with "tack coat" from any carpet shop. It allows you to peel it back easily.

what would you coat the marine ply with resin with fibre glass mating and if it repair stringer or replace them what would you use to glue them together on joints and to hull of the boat

hi here is what im up to in my spare time
im after some advise what i need to do with the stringers has they are damp and not glued in both side is this normal it does not look like it has been repaired before
also the stringers are in 2 parts the engine and the main boat part this this ok ?
