Now I've got most routine things running OK on linux (bar the printer.....grrrh!) I'm beginning to look at non routine software like chart plotters.

Has anyone come across one yet? The introduction of Vista makes the search more urgent.

I'd be interested in a chart plotter program too.

Am thinking of writing my own GPS configuration software in Kdevelop but need to get up to speed on KDE Qt first as I currently only write for ncurses.

I've never had a problem with CUPS under Kubuntu, it worked out of the box with my HP USB printer :-)

Is Simon of Adastra on these forums?

Rgds

As Brendan suggests, wine is the way forward. Wine HQ. New versions come out regularly so it is worth installing the latest as the version shipped with most distributions can be relatively old.
