Thinking of fitting an inflatable tender to the back of the targa but prefer not to use the usual snap davits as I don't want to be ducking and diving as I walk across the swim platform, so looking for a system that can keep the tender horizontal with the keel lying as far back as possible. Anyone done this on the same or similar size boat? Any recommendations welcome

dkm I have been looking at the same on my s37 but unfortunately the swim platform on mine is so small I ended up having to go with the weaver snap davits but if I could of I would have fitted these in this video as I think they are a great design

I used Hurley on my Doral, worked very well but caused boat to struggle onto plane. I cured this by fitting an auto trim control system. Boat was a little underpowered so I would have thought a Targa with right engines should be fine.

I've used these Hurley Davits on my Princess V40 and they work very well with a 2.7m Waveline and a 4hp Tohatsu 2 stroke. I can pull the dinghy up on my own but easier with two people. Into my 3rd year and the powder coating's starting to come off the frame so finish not very durable, especially seeing as they are designed for the sea water environment.
Dinghy etc made no difference to ability to plane but I don't have very much free space on my platform when the dinghy's loaded. Easy answer is to just chuck it in the water when you need access. Easy to fit too.

Dave,

Paul had that Hurley Davit system on his T38 "Azura" before he traded up. I think he had an Ali bottomed RIB sat on it. I was asking him about it a couple of weeks ago as I am trying to decide what to do with our airdeck tender on DKII and he said it was a really super set up.

Mike,
I saw this in action on the T38 and wasn't terribly impressed as it didn't seem to fit the hull shape for a solid hulled tender, probably OK for an airdeck.

Did he have the nylon blocks fitted that you can cut to shape your hull or just the standard metal frame work ?
if not thats what hurley recommend, or make your own in teak blocks :-)

Nice solution, problem is that it takes up pretty much all of the swim platform. If you have a really big swim platform then that's not a problem, but if not, IMO, snap davits offer the better trade off.

I think blocks cut to the hull profile would help and apparently it is easier to launch & recover than the more usual davits using stand off arms but it does take over a big part of the swim platform, at least on the T38 thevswim platform is wider than the T34 so getting on/off from the side is easier.
