The KESTREL 106 SUPERYACHT- ‘KESTREL’ by Kestrel Superyachts Ltd.

Runner up in 2013 International Yacht and Aviation Awards

Why compromise when you can have it all? The ‘both worlds’ superyacht.
Designed by the world renowned Ron Holland, the Kestrel 106 is genuinely unique. She was specifically developed to put both ‘fun’ and ‘family’ back into large yacht sailing, and to fuse together the best attributes of sailing yacht, motor yacht and beach house.

Kestrel successfully combines excellent sailing performance in a classical skin with large volume above and below deck and abnormally high stability. She therefore provides a broad appeal to enthusiastic sailors and their non sailing friends and family alike.

Built to world class quality in Turkey and launched in 2012, her exceptional levels of comfort and amenity equate to those normally found in yachts 15 to 20% longer. Kestrel offers ‘space, pace and grace’ in a yacht which is groundbreaking in so many ways, especially in its focus on generous and adaptable social and living spaces for 8 to 10 guests. This beautiful large yacht is warm, welcoming and flooded with daylight, a delightful place to spend leisure time. With her ketch rig to keep the sail area easily controlled she is a delight to handle. She has already touched 14.7 knots under sail, and easily cruises at 9-10 knots under engine. She would be suitable for superyacht handicap racing if desired.

Built in aluminium, Kestrel has been very lightly used for shows and p. charter

And 6 million euros reduced to 3 million equals affordability!!!!
As Dunedin says it's not exactly eye catching.

Maybe not but...

I can see a practical side to her, ocean passages. in weather that people with money do not normally sail in? an over grown motor sailor Nauticat? Fisher? Watson?

Baltic, Scotland, Alaska, Chile, New Zealand that's the places I see her not the tropics/ Med.

The thing that strikes me (although I might show ignorance of the industry here) her MCA classification 60Nm of Safe haven. That IMHO is not much I would expect her to classed more than that...

It's probably a lack of the necessary equipment or W/T bulkheads rather than a lack of seaworthiness.
