Please be advised that I have absolutely no financial interest or share in this yacht.
However IF (big if) I am really lucky and there is a crew space available and IF (another big if)I get a pass from Swmbo then I might possibly be able to join Kate for a couple of cruises.

Press Release for KATE

Latest News.

“Kate” is being converted to yawl rig.
After four seasons racing as a cutter, dreams from ten years ago of racing other Twelve Metres are no longer.
More appropriate now is to race the classic yacht circuit in the Caribbean, the US East Coast and Northern Europe and to cruise.
The 46 foot long boom is going.
That will be a relief. The smaller mainsail and new mizzen will permit much easier handling and offshore sailing.

“Kate’s” next outing will be in November for the Golden Rock Regatta.

Regatta Charter

Sail her with your own crew or join ours.
With many years of regatta sailing in the Caribbean we have had many successful charters with “Kate”.
Our crew sleep aboard and charter guests stay in villas, hotels or in “mother ships”. With our knowledge of the region all of this is easily arranged.
We expect “Kate” in her new colours and with her new rig to be faster and prettier than ever.

Upcoming events:
November The Golden Rock Regatta www.goldenrockregatta.com
January The Sint Maarten Classic Regatta www.classicregatta.com
February The BVI Sweethearts Regatta (This is so delightfully laid back there is no website)
March St. Maarten Heineken Regatta www.heinekenregatta.com
April Les Voiles de Saint Barth www.lesvoilesdesaintbarth.com
April Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta www.antiguaclassics.com

Converting Kate to a yawl rig appears to me to be very sensible - I would not be too keen on trying to take a reef in that mainsail at 0200 in a squall gusting F 8.....
Forget the other 12 meters, best to go out there and let Kate do her own thing!
And I am sure that she will be heavily subscribed for all the Classic regattas out here next winter.

Will she remain engineless?
And will she be crossing the pond over to Europe (or up to the Eastern Seaboard) on her own bottom next year?

She may stay engineless, but it is under consideration.

She will become blue.

She is not planned to cross the pond or head up the Eastern Seaboard

I would agree that white would be a better hull colour - I hope the new blue is not a dark blue, as although that would look nice, it would absorb a lot of heat in the tropics.

Re my question "And will she be crossing the pond over to Europe (or up to the Eastern Seaboard) on her own bottom next year?"
and your reply "She is not planned to cross the pond or head up the Eastern Seaboard"

I am a bit baffled - I asked this as the press release said :
"More appropriate now is to race the classic yacht circuit in the Caribbean, the US East Coast and Northern Europe and to cruise".

I think it would make sense in many ways to 'bail out' of the Caribbean during hurricane season, unless the owners plan on keeping her stored ashore during the summer (I think that has been the plan in the past), or you have a good hurricane hole to take her to if a hurricane does happen along (but even then there is no guarantee that she wont get damaged).
