Anyone else sick and tired of these incessant winds/gales?

Since 1st December it has been relentless. Gale after gale; rain, rain rain.
Have only managed to GET to the boat five times, no chance of a sail - even before I got water in the diesel tank.
Each time I look at the forecast it shows a lull some days away, but by the time that day arrives, well you've guessed it.

Blowing like stink at the mo - just recorded 69mph down on the beach with the dog that looks like a four-legged walking sand-dune.

XCWeather is showing a calmish spell next Monday - I'm not making any arrangements.........

Anybody else at their wits' end?

Compared to winter 13/14 it has to be said that, down south, the 14/15 winter has been mild. No flooding nor any serious gales and hardly any frost, no snow. So I guess we've had it easy - though March can still be a testing month so it ain't over yet!

Yeah, I'm with Robih. Down south it has been a mild winter, and not too windy. The Saturday just gone was glorious, but probably a bit less wind than would have been ideal to go sailing. :p

Edit: correction. Just checked the archive for the wind measurements on Bramble Bank and that tells me it was a decent F5 all afternoon, only dropping to a 3 in the evening. I only wish my boat was already back in the water.

Yes trying to get boat lifted for 10 days now on the Clyde

Mine has GOT to come alongside at the next Spring tide (circa 20th) for scrubbing and a/f, anodes, prop, thru-hulls etc.
I am not confident.
Could possibly leave it until 3rd April, but that's getting very close to my departure date.

Talk about frustration!!!!

Good luck with your lift.

What winds and gales?

Move south young man. Warmer, dryer, less windy and the natives are friendly. No midges either.

We're in the same situation. Have fitted beaching legs ready to neap the boat for a bit of TLC, but the rare gaps in the gales have not coincided with favourable tides. Have managed one day sail since October.

Next year I think we will strip off the sails, even if the boat stays on the mooring.

Its calmed a bit here on Loch Ness.On Saturday with a fetch up the Loch there were white capped 10 foot rollers.
I was fully expecting the power to go this evening and yesterday the whole of the hillside behind our cottage was spurting water and flooding behind our house.
Think thats why we booked our trip to Oz to see family 9 months in advance-we are usually last minuters

Lights flickering all night here. It is easing a bit now.
Tomorrow's calm spell is now "filling-in" again. Thought it was too good to be true.
Next winter Khamsin is coming out, no matter what the long term forecast might be. I've had enough of this weather, might as well have her at the house to do maintenance etc.

Flat calm all day here. The house anenometer hasnt rotated as much at 10 degrees. Beautiful sunshine too. I was even mopved to wash the car for the first time this year. Neighbour mowing the grass.

According to that topical news show "The Archers", the rain in engerland has been heavier, wetter and more utterly destructive than ever previously recorded. I'm surprised there are any houses left undamaged south of "the North".

Glorious here. Just back from fitting a backup mooring strop, I prefer one really big one but have chickened out and added a second one just for the next few days...

I am assured that normal service will resume tomorrow.

Another correspondent from the warm sunny calm South. Sorry Robert, but we are using up our quota of nice weather now, so that by the time you get down here on your circumnavigation you can have gales (and midges?) like you are used to in Scotland!
