It's cheap and looks quite cheerful. Was going to go back to Watchet but as that is now basically mud berths I thought how about going somewhere with genuine pontoon mud berths and save a fortune in fees. Looks like a nice holiday sort of place as well. 3hrs tidal window is not a lot less than Watchet so might take a trip up there and have a look. Bit further from home but as it's mainly motorway will be less travelling time. There must be a drawback somewhere. Having spent 20 plus years on a mud berth at Gillingham I don't find that a problem.:D

I was there last year.Sightseeing from WSMare
The entrance to the car park is a huge tide gate from memory.
Huge amount of dreams abandoned in the grass around a muddy creek.
The facilities looked tidy, but i left with a feeling of not quite sure how it worked..
Had a great pub lunch in the Dolphin,
Worth the trip just for that!!

It's a bit of a dump, but does have some charm....

I thought the place went bust, I don't know if anyone has bought it now? But I don't know what the facilities are like - nor access to tides, gates etc.

Remember they have a colossal tidal range (you're used to that with Watchet) so should be ok - where do you live as it's quite easy to get to.

I'm 5 minutes from Junction 7 M5 so about the same time to Weston as Watchet.
Don't mind the 'bit of a dump' if the people are friendly and honest, I spent some time at Galleons on the Thames before it was 'finished' so used to that style of place. Facilities aren't very important as I only use any marina as a boat 'car-park'. As long as it is fairly secure and sheltered and within pub walking distance that'll suit me.

Depending on what your draft is, you could be neaped in on tides lower than 10m. I draw 5ft and need at least a 11.5m tide to get up to where the pontoons are in uphill. Anything less than 10m and the boat won't even get wet. Also you only get about 1.5 either side of high water at best. The boat yard facility's are by no means the cheapest either. The facility's are basic but are clean. And there is water and electric on the pontoons. Uphill is a nice village and the Dolphin as mentioned is a nice pub and only a 5 mins walk from the boat yard. Another option and certainly a lot cheaper would be to join the yacht club and get a mooring on the river for about £200 a year. As long as you don't mind mud and sand. The club has good facility's and a club pontoon. And on the river you can get up to 3hrs either side of HW.

The other thing to mention is that there is no security as such and that a public foot path runs right along the top of the pontoons. And that access to the pontoons are open to anyone passing by. Saying that I keep my boat just round the corner in the muddy creak during the winter months and haven't had any problems. In fact it's a a really friendly place and there's always someone around to help or lend a hand if your in need. Definitely worth a visit.
