Am looking at the long range forecast for the weekend which is looking good so am hoping to make my first trip this year to Tarbert - however read on the front page of the Oban Times last week that the north pontoon is closed

Is this still true? Has anyone been there last weekend and been able to tie up?

Thanks

Tom

Tom, I was there at the weekend, by motorbike not boat, and the north pontoon was closed due to some safety issue. However there were plenty of boats rafting up at the south side of the harbour amongst the fishing boats. Hope this helps.

Still signs up in most of the Clyde marinas from the Tarbert Harbour Authority saying the pontoons remain closed. Apparently the moorings were found to be in a dangerous state.
I think most of the boats against the fish quay will be resident boats which had to move off the pontoons, so a check with the harbourmaster would be advised. There are good anchorages just to the North of Tarbert.
Hopefully the pontoons will be fixed for the Scottish Series in May

Thanks for that - will think of going somewhere else

Am sure they will be in a rush to get those fixed then! Losing a bit of money and cannot imagine how they might cope with the Scottish Series!!!

I think there are visitors bouys at Stonefield Castle so may vernture there and go in there for a pint or two although am sure they will be busy

5 day forecast still looking good!!!

Before the coming of the pontoons we always managed o.k. against the fish quay.....there were some barmy trots hanging out into the harbour during the early versions of the Scottish Series. Just made for some good parties with lots of neighbours!.
Would watch the 5 day forecast as Saturday looks good but might blow up from the South on Sunday for getting back.

Just back from a few days on Rebel. Tarbert was given a miss. The pontoon chains have been condemned. Should be back in operation in two weeks.

Blowing a hooley out there just now.

Thanks your e.mail. Ample space is available on fish quay and swinging moorings for yachting visitors in the interim, Divers currently working on refurbishing and upgrading pontoons with first section hopefully ready to take yachts in approx 10 days. All the present indications are the work will be completed well before Scottish Series.
