I'm planning to sail the good ship Rhubarb - with her shiny new engine - from Cadiz to Tangier in the first week of February and then into the Med leaving her at a marina somewhere near Malaga for a month or so during March before continuing to the Balearics and then somewhere near the mouth of the Rhone for storage ashore from May for about nine months.

Any advice regarding this plan would be very welcome as I've never been to Tangier before. (Did sail to Marina Smir in '08 but it didn't seem much like Morocco at all - awful place!)

Just to add to the thread posted I have been in Tangier a dozen or so times and it is wonderful... You go to the left and keep going until you see yachts rafted up to the right and little fishing boats to the left... then you 'raft up'. The parking is beside the police and customs offices and very secure. It is actually inside the 'bonded' port so you need your passport to get in and out but this of course means there are no 'non sailors' coming in.

Normally there is an old guy sitting on the quay side who sleeps there and he 'guards' the yachts... the custom is to give him all your loose change and small notes when you leave... There is a tap on the quay side but you have to pay for water by the ton which is all a bit of a joke and the customs people are pretty easy going by North African standards..

Tangier itself is a lovely place - great markets and souks and some of the wealthiest people in the world have houses there although you may not get invited to tea!
