I know there are several Chichester Marina regulars on here. Could you help me please? I need to track the movements of a certain boat, as it's a struggle getting the exact info from official sources, and I'm 100 miles from Chi. The boat is a new Squadron 58, no name on it, white antifoul, blue canvaswork. It may have arrived by truck at Peters today, from the factory. Or it may not, yet. All I want to know is, has it arrived? Is it on the hardstanding or craned in, or if you see it delivered or craned in (or dropped, or whatever)next week can you let me know its general movements and when, etc? Ta for any info.

Funny enough I was there the other day. Saw a v large boat on its side in the yard, think it was a Squaddie 58, seems to have fallen off lorry during craneage movement. A right mess it was in, s/b hull all stove in, windows smashed etc. Lots of peeps standing around looking at it, sucking teeth and tut tutting. I talked to one of them and he said they'd be able to do a cut and shut job with another Squaddie 58 they had an accident with last year.They said nobody would notice but I'm not sure new owner will be too chuffed once he finds out.
Does this help?

Ta Hagrid, most grateful. The update this pm was that it didn't go down to Chi last night, instead it will arrive Friday or monday. Despatch department at F'line seems a bit of a "mebbe, mebbe not, we'll have to see" type operation (hence, better info on this forum)

I'll be down there on Saturday and Sunday, will I need to wear my Ray Ban's and black cloak? If I spot it do I get a ride on it?

Re: Hm

I am still on standby at Watford gap services. Four weeks and counting! Can I take it that you are no longer interested in any sightings of beardy blokes in red fur-trimmed outfits driving a sleigh?

Re: Hm

If you do spot that bastard, ask him where my Fleming 55 is

Ta. Please lemme know if you see anything. Yes, can wear spy outfits/sunglasses/Aston Martins if you want. Even wear your underpants on outside. And yes, really decent spy info will be paid for with free ride on the suspect boat in Feb.

Re: incompetent spy :-)

Watford Gap? Ooh heck, you've missed it. The Fairline suspect delivery joins M1 a bit south of WG. Which spy are you, Johnny English?

Didn\'t they tell you....

.... it was being shown at LBS this week /forums/images/icons/smile.gif. Don't worry, It'll be ready next week when they've cleaned it up after the hordes of snotty kids have been climbing all over it.

Pete

P.S. You might want to check the holding tanks too/forums/images/icons/blush.gif

Re: Didn\'t they tell you....

No I have that base covered Pete :-). There were 2 build slots available when we ordered last year, the LBS show boat and one other. We specifically didn't order the LBS boat for all the reasons you say. That boat is still for sale by the way, no doubt it could be cleaned up

Re: Didn\'t they tell you....

Thought as much! Would they offer a (bigger) discount if you were to take the LBS demo one?

Dont believe you saw any boat "on its side" at Chichester...

Won't they tell you know where the boat is at any one time? last time I bought a VW, a quick call to the dealer and '...has just left factory ....is now at Grimsby.......is at dealership......is outside your office. Or is there another motive?

<hr width=100% size=1>

Nope. As you say, if you buy a new car (or send something by DHL) it gets tracked each stage and you can find out where it is. But I cannot find out where our Sq 58 is. Dealer called me today about some bits and pieces I need to confirm, I asked him where is it, he said he still doesn't know. I guess it has to be at the facotry or on the road somewhere.......

I think I would share your concern if I were in your shoes. Without wishing to appear morbid, many accidents, much damage occurs in loading/transit/unloading - and I would imagine that you have parted with or committed to significant amounts of spondoolees at this moment in time - when do you become the legal owner?

If you don't get the right answers will you be getting a surveyor to assist with the handover etc?

<hr width=100% size=1>

Now call me stupid..

But in this day and age that is all a bit queer isn't it? I mean losing a DHL parcel is one thing but a bloody great huge piece of plastic on a low loader?

Does the crew of the transporter have family? Have they phoned home in the last 2 weeks? Have the police found a disused artic with attached Sq 58 abandoned on the inside lanes of the M11? Has someone reported another Fairline circling the needles looking for CHI?

Time to give them factory folks some aggro... and demand they use mobile phones to contact the freight company. Maybe you should call new boat (if it arrives) ET? or Blackbird?

it has been found!

Aha. Gotta call this morning, it arrived Chichester yesterday and has already been craned into the water. So it should be there, tied up to Peters pontoon. But any sightings or confirmations would be appreciated. I'm gonna look at it sunday I think. Issit snowing in Chichester?
