Anyone around the Birmingham area who can help

Hi

Just wondering if there is anyone around the Birmingham/Alvechurch area who could lend me a helping hand as im really stuck. i just brought my first boat and had to move it from the marina. But now the pull cord has got jammed and is not retracting so right now my boat is moored up at an unsafe place and i really need to get it moved.

Im sure it’s a real simple fix for someone who knows what there doing.

Could be broken return spring, or the little tags that lock on the pull are not returning. Usually just a matter of removing the cover and having a look. Depends on what type of engine.

If it is a small outboard there is normaly a way to start the engine without the ned for the pull cord, just a length of 6mm rope,
Take off top and you should see a wheel on top, it will have a couple of little slots in it.
Tie a knotin the end of your piece of rope, put the knot on the top of the wheel and then wrap the rope clockwise around the grove inside the wheel, now just pull.
you want the rope to wrap a couple of times around the flywheel and dont be half heated with the pull, you need to pull the rope right off.
