A friend has pointed me in the direction of Boatmate to get the boat spruced up a bit. Has anybody any experience with this company or other and are they reasonably priced for an internal and external tarting up? No varnishing but metal work, gelcoat and teak restoration.

Actually, I'm amazed at the growth of marine valeting. At my marina, there's usually one or two vans there most weekdays - in marked contrast to, say, 3 years ago.

I saw a new valeting company there the other day, the guy was happily attacking the (already thin) teak inserts on a Jeanneau with the most vicious scrubbing brush imaginable!

Has nobody used valeting or re-fitting or does everybody do everything themselves??
The last time I looked the standard deep clean charge was £200 for what I would estimate as 6 hours of work. Furthermore they go for maximum impact with little consideration to longevity hence you see 6 year old ex charter boats with teak decks that look 20 years old.

What I need is a Hamble based teenager who would rinse the dust off my my decks once a fortnight for half the cost of the petrol to drive down.
