Had a great sail yesterday from Portsmouth to Cowes, stopped at the Yacht Haven to get some Lunch and almost every pontoon was empty. There were perhaps 8 boats in the North Basin and the South Basin was as empty.

Good run back in 22 Knots of wind to Portsmouth, single reef and Jenny, apart from our friends who were doing the same trip we saw 3 other yachts on the whole leg.

I know the summer hasn't started yet but there are normally more people out in November and February, it is great having the Solent almost to oneself in May!

Me sir.

Gosport to Hamble for a quick lift, scrub and anode change. (Well that was the idea, but the travelhoist guys had a different agenda.) Beating in anything from 12 to 24 knots apparent, changing from minute to minute, and swinging 30 degrees. Good training for Madame on the helm, and me on the mainsheet and traveller.

We were out too.

Gosport to Cowes on Saturday for a club BBQ at East Cowes Marina, then back on Sunday. A bit blowy on the way over, but great fun on the way back.

I was out on Sunday too. Hamble to Cowes to Newport back to Hamble.

First trip of the season.

I agree it was quiet, but not as quiet as you describe. Sure, Cowes was pretty empty, but there were several boats out in the Solent in the morning, including a few racing. Fewer in the afternoon once the wind picked up.

Coming back under full genoa alone we clocked 8.5 knots most of the time. Lovely whilst her bottom is clean.
