When we were on the East Coast about 6 yrs ago a nice lady called Val from Southend reupholstered our boat. I cannot locate her details but know that she had a rather splendid wooden motorboat called JimLad. Since HWMBO has denigrated by sewing skills (well he is right actually /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif) he suggested we try and find Val for a quote for cockpit cushions. So if anyone knows Val or how to locate her I'd be most grateful for details.

TIA
Penny

This might be a very long shot, but last year there was a small varnished wooden power/speed boat at Kip marina, now someone had pointed out to me that the covers on the boat were made by a woman, who I am sure was called Val.
Where the boat was berth is a part of the marina occupied mainly by members of a small boat club which I know has a close affiliation with a boat club on the east coast, somewhere around Newcastle. This is maybe totaly irelevant, but I will ask about, when down there again.
The reason I noticed the wee boat is that it was beautiful and the cover was extreemly well made and of a red/ maroony colour.

this littlle boat "Annie" is owned by Fergus Monk and is shortly to be featured in one of the Gaelic TV programmes
Fergus is member of the Kip Cruising club and yes they do have members who reside on the East coast
The Sailmaker who made his cover was Jessail Ltd 58 Glasgow St, Ardrossan Tel 01294467311

Thanks to both Clyde Wanderer and Grajan - sadly I don't think Val and JimLad were likely to get that far - think JimLad is a genuine Thames boat and if not a Dunkirk Little Ship then at least of that era and likely to stay closer to home.

Thanks for the kind help - perhaps I'll have to get the sewing machine out /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Kind regards
Penny
