Hi I'm buying a Dutch registered Princess 435 from the Netherlands.

I will then have it transported by road into Spain.

The Dutch broker seems to think I will have problems if I de-register it in Holland and British register it before it gets transported to Spain!

Any one know of any legal problems with this?
I will have proof of purchase, proof of VAT paid and proof of British registration.

Have I missed something?

Barry

Was he specific about what problems you might have? - Other than maybe having a Dutch reg plate/ number on the boat but British reg papers, I'm struggling to see what the issue might be (unless there's a particular "difficulty" at the moment with it being British...Gibraltar and all that)?

I cant see any problem and would ask the broker to be very specific.

The shipment is totally within the EU but will pass through a third country (France, at least). I think (though I have not researched in detail) you maybe ought to have a T2L document as well (in the possession of the truck driver) but that should be straightforward - the trucking firm should create the T2L. AKA "SAD" or "single administrative document", and can be downloaded from the UK Customs website. I had (and have kept) a T2L when my boat was shipped from UK to Italy via Spain and then onwards to France

This is all simple procedure though - I cannot see any problem

The Dutch broker seems to think because we are not part of the EU monetary system there will be problems and it will cost a lot more to pass through various countries with a British registered boat! I can't see that at all!
Anyone heard of a problem like this?

I've done the reverse and don't see a problem. The boat being registered for me is not revevant if it's on the road. I think proof of VAT is wat is important.

seems that the broker is mixing EU and monetary systems, don't see how the one affects the other in these circumstances...

where are the pics? :p

cheers

Having sold a few boats into and out of the Netherlands over the last twenty odd years, I cannot see what the issue is.
On top of the other docs you refer to you should also have a certificate of de-registration from the Dutch Registration supplied by the Broker/Owner.
As advised above with the correct docs the lorry driver should have no issues at all.
Discuss it with your transportation company and if they are happy, they may just be better informed than the guy you are buying her from.
I hope you enjoy the P435, a really great boat and now proving to be very good value for money as a lot of space on board them.

Thanks for al your comments and help, I cannot see the problem either! I will of course have the De-reg papers as well.
I would post a pic but not sure how to! It will not copy and paste so how do I upload a picture! I bet you all know what a P435 looks anyway? The boat is in great condition and I'm really looking forward to owning it.
Thanks all

Yes that would work but it uses this forum's own image hosting function which is very limited. It is much better to upload the pics to photobucket (at 800 x640) then hotlink from photobucket - just cut n paste the hotlink code that photobucket creates for you. The code to cut and paste looks like {img} url of picture.jpg {/url} only with square brackets not curly, but photobucket creates it all for you (for one or several pictures) and you just cut and paste that code into a post on here

Ive worked out how to do it! :)

She looks like a lovely boat Barry, mind you we shall miss looking out at the bow of Philae over the pontoon from our bathing platform!

Looks like you might need to berth stern-to from now on, cant wait to see her, hope the transport goes well, keep us informed when she's due to arrive!
