I didn't get one. But then I'm very particular to tick the box which says "If you do not want your details passed on to other related companies, tick here ", or words to that effect on any of these things. I'm also registered with the mail preference service, the telephone preference service and have an ex-directory phone number.

Cuts out a hell of a load of crap !

Boatbitz

I too just got the email, but I hadn't given my details to "Win a Boating Holiday", so they must have got my address from somewhere else.

I got spammed as well, and my email address is my own for my own domain - not a freeserve or crudmail address so I am very puzzled. Anyway I think if we all complained to his ISP and the people that house his domain and website he wouldnt do it again! Its simply not acceptable to spam anyone anymore!

Similar situation to myself.

I use my office e-mail address on this Forum and is not well known. I certainly dont use this in contact or buying from on-line suppliers.

I thought it coincidental that possibly others on this Forum had received similar spam mailings.

I'm sure that IPC would not sell on e-mail addresses, as it would cause ructions on here and elsewhere and be counter-productive!

**Important** to clarify

Email addresses held for the purposes of administering this forum are not released to any other party. They are not even released within IPC.

We do not opt you out (or in) of anything so we cannot, under the prevailing laws, use your mail addresses for anything.

I do not know what Waterscape intends doing with the data gathered in its competition...the form is hosted on its site and subject to its Ts and Cs , but as the company is owned by a government body, British Waterways, one would hope it is certainly circumspect with its handling of data.

If you are concerned about Boatbitz using your mail address you are within your rights to investigate with them the origin of the data.
