Our webasto air top 5000 will not stay on for long. It fails with a series of flashes which translate to overheat alarm.

Following some good advice, I ran it for an hour without a problem with the heating ducting disconnected. All good.

Tried again with it connected again and all vents open and it quickly shut off again.

I thought there might be an air lock in the Lazerette itself so ran again with the hatch open and another failure.

Whilst it is working, hot air blows from every vent.

Has anyone got a good idea for how to check for a partial blockage in the ducting?

Or has anyone had this problem and found the fault in the unit itself?

Any advice on next steps very welcome

Cheers
Richard

Ok thanks guys it's never been cleaned in the time I have owned the boat. I'm wondering if it would be easier to disconnect and take it home to work on, does it self prime when I reconnect? Or is the heat exchanger easy to get off in situ?

Take it home. You have to take it off to take it apart. And it’s messy. Far better in the kitchen than on the boat :)
