Hi there, could anyone out there please give me their views on a JEANNEAU PRESTIGE 34 HARDTOP. I am thinking of buying this boat to use on the Thames for six months and the south coast and France for the rest of the time.
Any owners or people in the know that can assist? Thanks in anticipation

I have crewed various Prestiges, although not the 32 hardtop.

From the point of view of the brand, you can't go wrong. They are unremarkable solid boats that do exactly what they say on the tin. They seem pretty reliable and the only problem I can see is that you going to have a lot of power for river cruising, as I assume you are going for the max engine power ready for SoF.

Think carefully about the perceived hardtop benefits. I feel that the loss of visibility and reuduced ease of in moving from the cockpit to deck/transom areas especially when morring is a real hinderance.

It also means more windage that you can't shed if you choose to.

many thanks to both Major Cat and BecsnDavid.
I will take on board (sorry) your comments. I must say I had given little thought to the possible mooring problems of being under a hard top!
Thanks again /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hardtop .Boat looks fairly easy to walk round especially compared to some of the boats using the Thames and with low airdraft no bashing into bridge problems.?

some good friends have one at the same marina as us - I think they're excellent.

superb cockpit for sitting around under way or when tied up. fast enough, rather more economical than their previous Antares 10.80.

You looking at a new boat?

thanks oldgit for your reply.
Hi Andyball, thanks for the message. I am looking for a 2003/4 used model.
