Seem to be picking up loads of radio checks from the South East coast today, mostly static due to distance but let's not go the same way if you please. If the VHF worked when you called Auntie Mabel and asked her to bring your waders to the boat, no doubt it's still working.

Will be keeping listening watch from 1600Zulu on Saturday in vicinity of Oostende.

LOL. This bugs me too. I've heard it a LOT on the south coast, and quite a lot here. It reminds me of my CB days when people used to shout for a "rig check". Basically meaning they wanted to chat but didn't know how to start a conversation.

People: The coastguard will not chat to you.

Normal procedure around here is to arrange a time for a call with someone going out, and arrange a channel too because as soon as people realise someone's out there he gets loads more calls off others
