I had to remove my Plastimo flexible water tanks to tackle a separate job. I spent most of today trying to connect and reconnect the tanks back again and not have them leak at the connectors - I failed. Until I took them out, they were completely watertight, so I know it can be done.

I did speak to someone else today and they said that they never managed to get satisfactory seal with the Plastimo tanks, but I'm really hoping a forumite has the secret to making the connections work properly. Does anyone know if there is something I should be doing to make the connections leak free?

For those that are not familiar, the connection seems to rely on a rubber O-ring that is compressed by a screw fitting. I tried screwing very tight, leaving very loose and using some fairy liquid in order to help it seat properly. All to no avail.

Thanks in advance.

If you use the old O-rings the chanches are its going to leak, remove the rings and get new ones these are bog standard rings and can be obtained from BSL or most plumbing outlets,Good luck. ps Do not over compress ,nip up, fill with liquid and tighten till all leaks and weeps are eliminated.

They may also benefit from a smear of Vaseline which keeps them in the groove so that when you tighten up they don't distort.
