Hello

As a paid up member of the RYA could I suggest a new campaign for the RYA?

To get onto OFCOM's case and get them to lighten up regarding SSB regulations.

Not a hope.

OFCOM will simply blame it all on ITU, CEPT or some other international regulatory organisation. "Oh dear me they'd love to help but their hands are tied by wily Johnny Foreigner" - can't you just hear it coming?

Ofcom and Icom are both represented hereabouts.

They cannot even agree that a lack of volume control on a VHF DSC alarm will lead to people switching them off (they drive noisy RIBs so need all the volume they can get).

Fat chance of this being sorted out. When enough people ignore such silly regs, Ofcom don't have any budget to police so it will fall into the recycle bin.

Do your own thing and ignore Ofcom, it's toothless.
