I'm planning to have a bow thruster fitted to our Moody Eclipse over the winter, and, as this is a significant job both in terms of cost and the small matter of drilling a hole in the boat, I wonder if anyone has any experience/recommendations for someone in the Plymouth area.

Any experiences (good or bad) gratefully received.

I'd be interested to know why you feel a bow thruster is needed in a 33 foot boat?

There is a long keeler beside me, about 38 foot long that has one that the kipper pops over the bow on a long pole if he needs it. That might be a cheaper option.

Having sailed single-handed for quite a few years, including a Transatlantic circuit in a long keeled Vancouver, I have had various fun and games with close quarter boat handling, and, as the years advance, I am all in favour of making life as easy as possible.
I'm intrigued by the idea of a portable thruster, but if singlehanding it wouldn't, I suspect, be a practical proposition...…………..
