Hi,

I have a Yamaha 60FE (60hp two stroke) that I'm trying to remove the prop shaft from due to a cracked gear case.

After a lot of blood, sweat and tears I have finally managed to get the bearing carrier out, which left the large bearing and shaft in place.

Looking at exploded diagrams I cannot work out whether I need to remove the drive shaft before the prop shaft will come out or. just use a puller of some description to extract the prop shaft with the drive shaft still in situ.

Any advice welcome, or if anyone has a service manual they wish to sell, I would be very interested.

Regards,

Dean

I think you will find that you cannot remove the drive shaft until you get into the gearbox far enough to remove the nut that retains the pinion. So a no to that line of attack

Maybe you will find a manual with the information you require at http://boatinfo.no/lib/library.html

Interesting looking site, but can't seem to access it all from my IPad. Am I doing something wrong ?

Thanks for the comments.

I have bitten the bullet and ordered a Clymer service manual. I will read up a bit before I go any further.

Cheers,
Dean

PS couldn't get the web site to work either, PC nor I pad.
