Any other Liferaft cradle vendors???

How are your woodworking skills? You just need two pieces of 1 inch marine ply on edge shaped to fit the canister. Space them so the ridges on the canister prevent end-to-end movement. Attach them to a baseboard with battens along the joint, fit a couple of bracing rails between the top corners of the uprights, epoxy all over, paint to match your deck, and fit the retaining strap to eyes bolted to the base or to the braces. You could make the whole thing from offcuts from a helpful boatyard.

PS. or if you have a suitable deck area, this is even simpler http://rollinscs.com/boatpages/photos/Projects/liferaft/cradle fit.jpg

Thanks, but already have something like that and am looking to move to pushpit, and free deskspace for a solar panel.

I took my liferaft to a local SS fabricator who made a cradle to fit both the liferaft and my pushpit. It was similar price to the generic models but much neater and better engineered.

Anyone know of any other life raft cradle vendors apart from this generic one (Ocean safety and seago ones appear to be the same);

I want to mount a 6 man canister Liferaft in a cradle, possibly with a static release (which would need different straps I believe)
Hi,

I have the Seago version of that cradle, can you tell me why you don't want to use it ?

I installed mine with a Seago 4 man cannister LR and had various issues in that the stainless mounting screws galled and picked up on the thread but got there in the end, after lots of swearing and flat driver batteries. I believe it's possible to fit a Hammar hydrostatic release, as you say, and this does require a separate retaining strap from that supplied. I haven't done that yet but may do later.

Overall the one pictured is not the best quality but is well priced and now it's mounted I'm quite happy with it.
