... In a sailing context of course - apps, battery life etc? As i am up forcontract renewal, i will keep my iphone with the excellent apps for the boat, but as vodafone coverage is getting worse, i will move to EE for their 4G coverage.

If I were getting a new phone system today I'd buy a Nexus 5 sim free, and get a Three One Plan Sim Only on a 12 month contract for £15 per month.

If you do want to move to EE then have a chat with http://www.chitterchatter.co.uk

They are a 3rd party supplier for T-Mobile/EE and it's possible to negotiate a good deal/boosters for free etc.

Why not waterproof? ?

Galaxy S4 active
Sony xperia z1

Nexus 5 or Moto G, both great phones. Moto G is cheaper but has a far higher spec than any other "budget or "midrange" phone. Its faster than an s4 in real world speed, but doesn't have NFC, wireless charging, only has 21Mbps HSDPA+, and the camera isn't as good. If you can live with that, you can pick one up from Tesco for £129 16Gb and then get an unlock code to use it on any network, £2 off eBay.

Oh and the battery life and GPS performance are actually better on the moto G.

Hi peter2407,

I'm sorry to see that you're considering leaving us.

If you'd like us to look into the concerns you've raised about the coverage you're experiencing, could you follow the troubleshooting steps on our eForum here?

Kind regards,

I moved to EE for their 4G on an S4 - and have been testing it along the South Coast and on the commute to London.

I also have a 3 Sim in my Ipad. I get better and faster downloads from 3, even when in an EE 4G area. 3 have just brought out new pricing, which are really good if you want lots of data - "all you can eat data" for £15 for 12 months or £18 on a rolling monthly contract. BUT this data / calls and text can also be used in some overseas countries out of the allowance. If you travel to the US then this is a major deal.

Lee - as i said to your colleegwee when i had my annual (?) courtesy call ( obviuosly in no way connected with the fact that i requested a PAC code - if Voda spent your customers money on your customers rather than going for world domination, you would have a better network and therefore happier customers who stay.

Hi peter2407,

Thanks for returning to your thread.

From your initial post it would appear that coverage has deteriorated over time, which could be down to a number of reasons. Although you look to have left us now, to see if things are likely to improve over the next few months you can check our coverage checker here.

In regard to our investment in the network I can confirm that this has substantially increased during the year. For more information on this see here.

Kind regards,

Lee
