We've got a couple, had them for a few months now. We've got the two handed ones with the mushroom shaped handle. The one touch mechanism is part of the winch handle shaft, you squeeze the shaft and them pull the handle out of the winch, when you put it into the winch you just put it in like a normal handle.

Place we bought them told me he couldn't keep them on the shelves...

I like them, they do come out quite easily one handed and are nowhere near as fiddly as the ones with the switch on top. They seem to lock on place quite firmly as well. I'll be taking them with me when I sell the boat....

I have the one with the mushroom top(single size).First class, better than all the others,i.e. does not stick in the winch at the important moment.Wish I had bought it earlier & not bought the cheap handle at LIBS.

I think I must be in a minority in disliking locking handles of any sort. We never leave handles in winches so cannot see the point! We have a couple of the 'powergrip' mushroom-handle Lewmar 10" jobbies, no locks of any sort, and they do the job.

Bought one at LIBS and used it to the exclusion of other handles on our June sailing holiday. Works brilliantly with the mushroom head very useful. My winches are Harken, and the Harken handle is sometimes tricky to disengage, no problem at all with the new Lewmar handle.

I've used the Mushroom topped ones since June and like them a lot.

£50 seemed a lot when you could get handles that would do the job for about £39, but what's £20 when you're talking boat stuff.

IMHO they are easily worth the extra £10 if you have to pay £50 each - I think mine were £47.95 from Mailspeed.

You may be in a minority but you are not alone. I dislike locks too, and removed them from my handles, because I don't like the fiddle. These new ones might be better, but they're gey dear...
