John Healy (FST) has estimated this extra EU tax will rake in £10 million revenue.

Anyone know total UK leisure diesel sales so we can calculate if the £10 m is from .48p duty or .20p duty ?

Looks like 48p then /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I wish I hadn't asked, shall we delete it /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Are you suggesting sails could be subsidized to help encourage the use of them /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

oooh.... no..... flappy things would look so rubbishy on your boat....

I was suggesting that the £10m could be used to do something like update the bouyage infrastructure with nice long range LEDs in sequential patterns... rather than to fund an oppressed Romanian lesbian support group in Chingford.

AS the goverment has been opposing this duty, then WHEN they are forced to charge the fuel tax THEN:

This extra money that the goverment is being FORCED to charge should be ploughed 100% back into the marine industry.

But what projects would be of real tangable benefit to all users effected by this charge?

Nothing in the EU directive requires the Government to impose the same tax amount on Pleasure diesel as is applied on road fuel. Something less would be satisfactory so long as its no longer a DEROGATION.
