any one built their own boat?

AQ plywood clinker pram dinghy might be your best bet, using epoxy construction, theres a few books around, have a look on the YBW website.

hi,
you could look into Pete Culler on boatbuilding

and check out the 'Stitch and Glue' method

- using that I once build an 8 ft dory in one(!) longish day.

Try to find copies of the defunct 'Small Boat Journal'.

Also check designs and building ideas by
Phil Bolger.

all of the above via the Internet...

don't forget to
have fun!

thanks for the reply tried the site, looks easy enough.... i wish i'd not said that!

Aztec my dear old fruit, have a look at www.glen-l.com lots of plans available plus when you buy a set the plans for the frames are all full size so no need to do lofting out, I am very tempted to try and build the 19 ft Riviera or 20ft Monaco , lots of books on the subject.

Was gonna do a aluminium copy of the Albertross cos I could get the metal from work (being a tight arse), but I really fancy one of these riva/chris craft looking wooden ones.

Also, I have got some plans you could use from Baltimorebill (hereabouts) of a 6 foot pram dinghy, reckon you could easily scale it up a bit bigger, could easily email you plans.

Aztec,
Have a look at www.swallowboats.com
They have a nice range of semi-traditional plywood boats as kits.
Not sure if they do plans but ive built their Storm Petrel and am pretty pleased with it.
The website has stacks of info about the boats and the kits, even a bit about small boat rig design and rowing boat design.

thanks for all the replies, iv'e got some good information, just need to finish building my workshop and i'll have a go.

thanks to you all again. regards, steve.
