Hi

I know it is not a good weekend to ask, but maybe some body is stuck like me for another reason.

I have had some trouble with Yahoo. mail mostly, cant log in, get script errors, but I must get to one group.

I never get errors on msn chat or yahoo messenger, never on PBO or hotmail, seldom on google, comes back :

sever not found or dsn error

But yahoo, it is almost imposible to log in, and when I am in and try something it bombs out.

I have re-installed win-98 completely, have funny sw running ot it, disk ist still empty of date. I amed with the net via a LAN network with three machines on it.

I have a new IF for comms, and still there is trouble. When I go to the I-cafe, all works fast and well.

Question: is it possible that a fire wall or priority setting at the provider causes this problem?

Any input most appreciated.

Thanks ongolo

If you are able to log onto your email account at the internet cafe, but get script errors from your own computer, it is very likely you have javascript problems on your browser.

Two options.
1)Go to internet cafe and log into yahoo email account. Then
Click the Options link on the left-hand navigation bar.
Click the Preferences link on the right.
Locate the Version heading, and select "always use non-frames, non-javascript version."
Click the Save Settings button to put your new setting into effect.
When you log in in future, you will be using non javascript version - see if this works on your computer

2) work out why javascript is bombing? which Browser are you using (internet explorer? which version?)Have you run repair on it, and have you downloaded all the latest security updates.

You mention script errors, but also server not found and dsn errors. Which do you get most often?????? script/DSN/Server not found -= as they are very different errors with different possible reasons

Have you thought of bypassing all these issues, and simply downloading your email from yahoo via POP using Outlook Express instead of a web browser

Have you thought about

Hi,

Have you tried System Restore - accessed via System Tools? I had a similar problem getting into Google a while back and this solved it.

If you know an approximate date when your computer was functioning ok then it's worth restoring it to this point. If a programme file has been corrupted through a bug it will return it to the state it was in at the restore point. You won't lose any files and in any case, the process is reversible.

Worth a shot if you haven't tried it already.
