Hi, I'm replacing an old Shipmate with a ladida DSC with second station for the fly. To connect to the GPS for DSC data/location, I need a connecting lead for NMEA on the Raymarine C120W digital.

The radio set end is an eight pin jack (8 total incl. centre pin) the Raymarine C120 has several NMEA sockets to run 4800/9600 baud.

The question is can I buy a lead like this or do I need to make one up having found the correct connectors?

I have a pdf version of the manuals so I can answer any questions like pin outs but it is difficult to paste from there so I would need to scan or photo.

Any help appreciated.:encouragement:

No, you will need to connect the raw ends of each unit's fly lead, preferably using screened twisted pair cable unless they are close together and you can connect them without any extra cable.

Thanks for that, I thought that would be the case. The Vhf has an output lead supplied, the NMEA on the C120 is in situe. Am I right in thinking the loose fly leads will be freely available unattached as they are not in use currently on the large lead coming from the large NMEA cable connector?

Everything else is Raymarine and is on Seatalk...

If you don't already have the plug with the 0183 fly leads they are available, but they are on the power lead along with the video leads etc.so you must already have them unless somebody has cut them off. They may well be taped back somewhere. When I install an MFD I use a barrier strip for any unused data leads so they are ready for future connection.

Thanks, I know what you mean now and where to look for the fly leads. The new device is complete with plug and open ended leads. Simple connection as it's only a 6 inch run.

One way connect too for position data.

NMEA Brown receive+ to Yellow Tx+ of MFD

NMEA Red receive- to Brown Tx- of MFD

Once I've found the fly leads of course... :ambivalence:

Thanks again,

RR
