Every year the MCA holds its "sailing challenge" where they charter a fleet of yachts and have a few days sailing/racing.
In the usual half-assed MCA way they are too risk averse to run a proper RYA course and go across the Channel but have micro-managed local sailing. It is something of a challenge to get them to allow any night sailing at all - an essential part of the RYA course syllabus.
This year the event is Solent based.
On Friday 25 April the final morning will involve "round the cans" sailing with "the great and the good" aboard the yachts before heading back into Port Solent for the end of week prizes about lunchtime.
Your target is a Sunsail fleet, probably coming out of Cowes on Friday morning. One of the boats will be carrying the Chief Executive of the MCA, the other boats carrying the Directors.
I have bored you enough with my opinions on the Coastguard pay matter and some of you have been kind enough to express support.
If you see the fleet, you might heave-to on the starboard tack in front of them and let them know your feelings, but I could not possibly suggest that.
