I have a Rutland 913 wind generator that the bearings started to rumble after 13 months I replaced them with bearings from a local supplier but they only had Chinese bearings in stock. The Chinese bearings have only lasted 6 weeks and now the inner bearing is totally shot. The part no is 6202 ze which has a metal seal (fitted on the outer end of the shaft and therefore most protected) and the inner bearing has a rubber seal but I can not read the part number. Looking on the net it seems that 6202 is the size and I have a choice of rubber or steel seals, rubber being the better seal with a cost of higher rotating resistance. Also I have seen reference to higher clearance bearings for HI speed/low resistance applications I think. Each time the bearings have failed it has been the inner less protected bearings the have failed. The question is do I go for a pair of SKF with metal seals, metal seal on the outer bearing and rubber seal on the inner bearing, high/ low resistance or something else.
I will ring Marlec next week but it is nice to have some knowledge beforehand.
