Any alergy specialists out there

I can't spell the first one either but my understanding is that a warning is placed on food items for people that do not have the ability to control their levels of this amino acid this can be life threatening so you would have found out if you had this problem in infancy (anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, its all from my jaded memory).

Caffine in coffe can cause problems but I believe only in quantities of 6 or 7 mugs/cups a day.

Have you thopught about a contact dermatitus problem? perhaps you have changed washing powder or fabric conditioner or your shower gel to one that you don't normally use.

Re: Any allergy specialists out there

No specialist, just an allergy sufferer - it would seem unusual for something ingested to cause itching in just one area, more likely all over. I would look for something causing irritation by contact to that area ( new trousers?) or some cause other than allergy such as poor circulation or eczema - perhaps after exercise or showering?

Having read the posts. Allergy is rare(true allergy) and if you had it, you'd koow about it. It would appear on more than legs. Leg problems can occur from many other reasons than allergy.

If you drink and smoke, maybe you have artery problems, and lack of blood flow.
However, there are hundreds of reasons why you might have the symptoms you describe. So rather than guess, go get an expert opinion, rather than an internet guess.

Fully agree, and get a check for blood glucose levels done, itching can be a symptom of late onset diabetes.

I get itchy legs and give them a good scrubbing then apply E45 cream - works for me - if in a hot climate, suncream works just as well.

As we are on scuttlebut I wonder if this is a true allergy or a lack of sea time causing the problem.
Sometimes a look at last years log book can reduce or even remove the symptoms,If this fails sit with a chart of next seasons cruising area and plan a few trips. As a last resort a visit to the London Boat Show might help.
If none of the above work then take a course of anthistamines.Do not start these until well after the festive season as they can react with alcohol.

Stop drinking coffee for a day or so and see if it goes away?

After our trip in August, the front of my left thigh became itchy and tender - it felt a bit like sunburn, but it wasnt. After 5/6 weeks I went to the quacks. she diagnosed sciatica, which made sense, and it's gone now.
