Hi, and not so good really, a serious stroke innov 2019left me in a hospital bed during staff dshortages due to covid, and s o I went without physio help, and this eft me a hysica wreck devoid of muscles, and so much so I was unable to even stand unaided, and so an end to boat maintenencethis ment oyr fantastic yacht needed s new custodian after 20 years she is now based in Woolverstone, and oh that is a bitter pill, and the wonderful much praised NHS has left me like this plus I need home carerethat I have to pay for {welcome to the welfare state }, and I i hope to get well enough to get more active, and I can now manage to get around the house downstairs with a quad stick, the its rather like a milking stool with a long handle. It's a I still have a weak left arm though this is improving slowly, but to sy I'm frustrated is it a gross underestimate. I its only my determination and good friends that has kept me focused the NHS and social services are hopeless as is my gp surgery, and it took continual pressure on them to get me physios at home who hve been a great benefit to me. I have we hope to get a small boring mobo, {and just sit and steer? so we can get afloat, and do mobos hve much string to tweek?. At the end of the day I am a sailor, but not a stink potdriver. I have oh how I miss those oostende trips, and I i visited 3 times in 2019fir winds allyou don't know what's lurking around the corner

You do sound like you are improving which is good, i appreciate how frustrating it must be not being able to get on the water. I didnt know that JB was local, i shall look out for her, i liked that boat and know how much you did too. take care there.

I have planned a club cruise to Ostend for the may spring bank holiday. Unfortunately it seems that this event will clash with our cruise. Can anyone advise on the typical availability of berths etc. We will go on sun 28 May then nip to Middleburg if weather is OK. This is to give a couple of smaller newbies a taster of the canals.
Then return to Ostend Thurs 01 or Friday 02 June ( will clash with Voore Anchor) to get customs clearance out of shengan & come home sat 03 june. So with several boats we need several berths. ( not in the Ostend YC we want the RNSYC) . It is important as we need to get clearance. It is also important to keep the trip lengths down for the newer boats. So we do not want to exit Blankenburg. We would rather not do Nieuport as it will catch awkward tides from Middleburg being a bit far for some to do in one tide. Ostend just fits in nice. We will do Ramsgate saturday then Bradwell sunday
This will be my 79Th trip to Ostend, so I know all about the place & I am very friendly with Simon, but I have never been to the Voore Anchor event
So has anybody been to the Voore Anchor & what has been their experience of berthing please?

berths in the Montgomery Dock, and no problem the Ova take over the mercator marina for the event offering free berthing to participants, and I expect you will have a nice time"as useual"?

I hve attended the Ova many times its a great weekend especially if the weather is fair, those new to the trip forget way points as you wil be sailing a greater distance going across the tidelongsnd HD then 130mag workrd for me, but an admiralty tidal atlas is invaluable for the trip, but its ony 72 mls from the and guard by" if you get the Av correct"?

I used admiralty ch 1406, there is a well placed compass rose out in the TSs, At I set that as a wp. The it was then easy to plot rnge and bearing to keep an eye on x track plus psnit was alwaysnice to see the twin & garden city by once through the tss

You might have mentioned it, not sure. ?
When I reached 75 visits the RNSYC precented me with some momentos to commemorate the fact. I was given a watch, a briefcase & a medalion. . My wife having acted as race officer on one of the Belgian national Dragon events circa 2005. For that she was given champagne & flowers at the thankyou speech. I would regularly go for 3+ weeks at a time. I like to go for the Paulusfeesten
