i posted a few weeks ago where i could purchase antifreeze for a reasonable price instead of paying the rrp of 25.50 plus vat from a volvo penta agent, which would work out at £102.00 plus vat for 4 of them which would be required for twin instalations.they only supply them in 5 litre containers instead of been able to buy them in 25 litre drums which would work out cheaper ie;less packaging. i have contacted my local volvo bus and truck company as someone suggested on my recent post and guess what you can you can by volvo antifreeze in 25 litre drums from them at a cost of £37.50 plus vat, that is a great saving, and it is the original green colour. its beyond believe how they can charge so much more another boating ripoff

welcome to Volvo Penta! Many of your components are related closely or otherwise to the non marine units. VP say that components for the marinised engines differ in materials or other significant details. I say if the comonents have the same Volvo part number buy the truck stuff. If not, but the components are visually and to all extent the same, then consider the justification of the costs and make an informed descision. You could save even more by going to a non franchised truck parts company who will cross match part numbers - just don't give them a boat engine number but the equivilant non marinised engine type.
Always buy the best marine engine oil though as the oil you stick in your boat has a really important job to do when the engine isn't running, unlike in a truck engine when the darn thing is never off!
Good luck.
